Vancouver Finds: McLeans, Gastown

service: very good, they gave us a table close to the door with huge armchairs, felt like we were in a mansion. anything we asked for, such as parmesan cheese, they would provide generous portions.

mushroom soup: very strong mushroom taste, which is good. there was a ball of cream on the soup, melting as we go. Enoki mushrooms and some herbs (chives and cilantro). Very nice starting dish.

mussels: well, we havent gone wrong with mussels yet. These mussels were good as well. We asked for fresh parmesan to add onto the mussels. The mussels were HUGE and juicy.

duck confit salad: a bit dry, the duck was good. The dressing was some balsamic reduction, a bit of a chocolaty taste. The salad was some cut up endives. Goat cheese to top it off.

sable fish with truffle oil and lobster raviolis: sable fish was cooked for crispy skin, very good control of the cooking and seasoning. Underneath lied several raviolis, I think about 6 large lobster raviolis. The lobster however was a bit dry, it tastes like and overcooked lobster elbow. The truffle oil added to the flavor in a good way.
