It's that time of year again !  The Rio Tinto Alcan Dragonboat festival is happening in False Creek this weekend!  Every year for 2 days during the Father's day weekend, the paddlers meet up at Science world and race it out !

A spirited summer tradition Creekside Community Centre, Creekside Olympic Village and the waters of False Creek will come alive with the 24th Annual Rio Tinto Alcan Dragon Boat Festival, June 15, 16 & 17, 2012. Created 24 years ago as a showcase of Vancouver’s growing cultural diversity, this first-of-its-kind event has grown to become a grand celebration of Canada’s unique multicultural heritage with exciting programs and professional performances by well- known entertainers. Visual arts displays and activities from local community groups, and of course, the world-class dragon boat races makes Rio Tinto Alcan Dragon Boat Festival Vancouver’s most anticipated and prestigious summer event. - source: Rio Tinto Alcan Dragonboat

This event is especially important to me because this is how Him and Her met!

Not only will you be able to see racers from beginners to world competitors, there will be plenty of activities and carnival style booths on site!
